Comparison Essay

In this essay ill be talking about into the wild and how the novel presents, his family and compare with film by Penn’s. Into the wild is about novel by Krakauer its about a young man, how just graduated  collage and he’s hole life was in head of him Christopher McCandless very smart but different from everyone else he show by him jumping on stage also money didn’t mean a lot to him. 1992 McCandless went hitchhiked to Alaska hes family and no contact with love -ones in the end he ends ups died. This would make identifying range languages and quotations explain the link between film and novel.

he is also showing that he is rebbeling By burning his money he is showing that he is not willing to follow with society and saying that this money is useless and causes people pain in their lives suggesting money is depraved.Christopher McCandless was a 23 year old man who set out to the wild for his personal ambition a year later he was found dead. both jon Krakuer and Sean Penn have interpreted McCandless’s story in their personal way krakeur making a book and Penn in making a movie. in this essay I will be analysing the comparison between McCanless’s family and McMcandless himself in the book and the film.

In the film presents Walt McCandless as a world apart from his son whereas the novel present Walt and chriss as sharing similar core characteristics in the film when the sports team entrance the other shoulder shot walt’s reaction was a similar shot as Chris McCandless the film shows this all by camera shots  meanwhile in novel McCandless called unusual gifts into wild this languages devices as metaphor a human cant be a gift hes more than a gift he a gift to world but McCandless didn’t want to turn out like he’s father how cheated on his mother. McCandless couldn’t forgive he’s father in the film he’s says that he’s there family going be in pain for next years as he goes on his journeys travel to Alaska.

In Sean Penns’s film, it presents bille McCandless (his mother ) as a fake person on the other hand the mover present Bille as loving and caring person . A example in the film when Bille wants to buy Chris McCandless   I new car (Datsun) car it’s very expensive and he’s parents couldn’t be seen with there son in that car there standers and very ugly McCandless  parents was about statuses how Chris’s look and his car . However the novel presents Bille as loving person “Bille as nice person who made blanket for him” this blanket McCandless died I think McCandless brought this blanket on he’s journeys to remember he’s mother (Bille)  McCandless just want to punish his father. Example in film of walt buying Chris McCandless a new car ,when camera shots of he’s parents talking about new car the director did a Point view shot to shows, he’s old Datsun the other shot was other the shoulder shot to see he’s reaction of Chris’s McCandless start getting very  aggressive to his love-ones when carine had to pinch his leg make him calm down McCandless has mood swings when he’s parents talk about ,money  it’s get to Chris he’s didn’t want to fit in to world he want stand out by going into the wild no money .

The  way the film presents McCandless as a rude and disrespectful child as he rebellions against he’s towards his family. McCandless says there many reasons why Chris goes into the wild and very complicated . examples in film and novel the same when Walt and Bille send letters “when the family send letters he sent them send back to postoffice” This shows how Chris McCandless was rebellions to his parents why did McCandless do this ? He want to state his point that he doesn’t need his parents I think that McCandless wanted to show to he’s love-ones that there didn’t respect him and money wouldn’t buy that for him .

McCandless and his parents was not close at all his mother Bille try so hard to have a close relationship with Chris.  Walt didn’t try at all the thing what destroy relationship was parents business ,there was so busy didn’t think about there children. Walt and Bille argued about money was not a good inference how a married couple.

Into the wild present Chris McCandless as courageous and adventurous young man who want to discover what life is out in wilderness.  Age 24 he’s family expect a boy like him to graduated from university and go out in world to work to earn his own money ,he give the $24,500 money to charity this when he started to discover world he’s future change. Carine (his sister) is presented as a loyal sister to Christopher because she knows how there journey with family was hard. Carine had a hard time when  Chris was gone  she watch her walt and bille argue film she was very vulnerable indeed of fatherly figures shes has none to cry on or to guide her threw her life .presents Walt violent as hits Bille she drop on seat  the novel never showed Walt as humble but just was a loyal husband cheated on Bille and has a son older than Chris Mcandless that  pissed of Chris that what made him go into wild and never returned . This Chris pride was very high he didnt want to call his parents to let them know where  he is, he didn’t want to be embarrassed them but he didn’t realise how much pain there were going threw stressful time to shows his feeling .

Chris is shower in the film “as behaving negatively towards his parents ” This when he walk into the hall to celebrate his graduation. The novel shows how he is a caring person because for mother day Bille say she was surprised McCandless don’t believe buying presents for mother and that was his first time in two years.

In this film there present McCandless as he can’t get along with his family “preferred people on the road than his real family ” Chris didn’t like his family accept Carine the example from film he had a drink with his manger . McCandless even sent them letter to tell her doing but not to his family. This was selfish behaviour when he was going to died he   Most had flashback about his family.

In  conclusion the family
